Jimmy Kimmel-Hosted Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Returns July 23rd

Jimmy Kimmel’s primetime schedule is coming into focus. Following its recent renewal, the fourth season of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire now has an premiere date.

Who Wants To Be a Millionaire will premiere Wednesday, July 23 on ABC. The hour-long show will run in the 8pm time slot, and will serve as the lead-in to the network’s Match Game revival, with Martin Short replacing Alec Baldwin, who hosted the show’s most recent iteration four years ago.

Kimmel’s twist on Millionaire has landed on the format of putting two celebrities at once in the hot seat. The stars answer questions together in the hopes of winning up to a million dollars for the charity of their choice. Last year’s contestants included late-night personalities like John Mulaney, Kenan Thompson, Reggie Watts, and Kimmel’s Cousin Sal.

In addition to hosting the show, Kimmel executive produces it through his Kimmelot production banner alongside Michael Davies and Sony Pictures Television’s Embassy Row.

Though the new season will run through the summer, it only adds up to a few days work for Kimmel. The host will tape the season in just one weekend, recording two shows a day from Friday, June 6 to Sunday, June 8.

With Kimmel typically taking summers off from Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Millionaire has the side benefit of giving him a presence on ABC even while he enjoys some time off with his family (and perhaps Magic Johnson).

Who Wants to Be a Millionaire will tape in Los Angeles in early June. Audience tickets are available via 1iota.
