Jimmy Fallon to Bring Holiday Spirit Back to NBC With Two December Specials

Jimmy Fallon will be making spirits bright again on NBC this December, headlining not one but two holiday-themed hours in primetime.

First up, Password returns with a special festive edition airing Monday, Dec. 8 from 10–11 p.m., followed by an encore on Dec. 18 at 8 p.m. Hosted by Keke Palmer and featuring Fallon as a recurring player, the Password Holiday Special will pit Fallon against Tony Award-winner Jonathan Groff for a night of yuletide wordplay.

The revival of Password, co-produced by Fallon’s Electric Hot Dog production company, has become one of NBC’s reliable unscripted hits. The show’s second season, which premiered in March 2024, reached more than 32 million total viewers across linear and Peacock platforms, per NBC, and earned multiple 2024 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Game Show. A third season, filmed last summer, is slated to premiere in 2026.

NBC will also re-air Jimmy Fallon’s Holiday Seasoning Spectacular on Wednesday, Dec. 17 from 9–10 p.m. The musical comedy special, which tied in with Fallon’s holiday album Jimmy Fallon’s Holiday Seasoning, was a hit for the network last year—coming in first in its time slot in both key measures.

The hour follows Fallon as he searches for the holiday spirit in New York, wandering through a surreal apartment building where each door reveals a new celebrity performance. The lineup includes Meghan Trainor, Cara Delevingne, Dolly Parton, JB Smoove, Jonas Brothers, Justin Timberlake, LL Cool J, The Roots, “Weird Al” Yankovic, and more.

Fallon’s love of the holidays is well documented. In 2020, he released a children’s book titled 5 More Sleeps ’til Christmas, and over the years he’s packed The Tonight Show (and before that, Late Night and Saturday Night Live) with festive sketches, musical numbers, and good-natured chaos. Alongside Chris Kattan, Tracy Morgan, and Horatio Sanz, he helped turn their original tune “I Wish It Was Christmas Today” into an enduring comedy Christmas anthem.

His Holiday Seasoning record features 16 original songs in that same playful spirit—a mix of comedy, nostalgia, and holiday joy that has become a Fallon signature.
