Jimmy Fallon is adding yet another title to his ever-growing bibliography as the Tonight Show host rounds out the children’s book series he began a decade ago.
As People magazine first reported this morning, Fallon’s new book Papa Doesn’t Do Anything is set for release this spring.
The new book is the fifth in a family series that began with 2015’s Your Baby’s First Word Will Be DADA. Fallon followed that up with 2017’s Everything Is Mama, This Is Baby (2019) and Nana Loves You More (2022).
“Papa,” in the case of Fallon’s new book, refers to grandpa. The book tells the story of a child who believes, as the title suggests, that their grandfather “doesn’t do anything.”
“This book is a tribute to the dads and grandpas in our lives and what they have done for all of us,” Fallon told People, “and the title will be sure to get a laugh if they receive it as a gift.”
“It may seem like Papa doesn’t do ANYTHING but sit in his chair,” the book’s synopsis reads. “But he does so much more.” The book will illustrate exciting parts of Papa’s backstory, “from flying a plane to playing in a band.”
In addition to Fallon’s pentalogy of family-themed books, he has also authored a pair of New York Times-bestselling holiday-themed children’s stories in recent years, 5 More Sleeps ’Til Christmas and 5 More Sleeps ’Til Halloween.
“Jimmy Fallon, one of the most popular entertainers in the world, reminds us that even though it may not look like it, Papas are always doing SOMETHING,” Papa Doesn’t Do Anything’s synopsis continues.
Indeed, Fallon’s popularity has been on display recently. The host’s Broadway debut in All In: Comedy About Love last week set a weekly record for the show, and a house record for the Hudson Theatre.
Papa Doesn’t Do Anything! is due out May 13, 2025 via Feiwel & Friends, a division of Macmillan Publishers. It’s available for preorder wherever books are sold.
