Fresh off of Jimmy Fallon’s visit to the show, Hot Ones has booked another late-night star. Bowen Yang will guest on the popular wings-eating YouTube series this Thursday, Nov. 21.
The show announced the latest episode Monday by posting a photo of Yang on set, smiling widely—presumably because he hadn’t yet gotten to The Last Dab.
The appearance comes on the eve of the release of Yang’s latest movie, the big-screen adaptation of the musical Wicked, which hits theaters this Friday, Nov. 22. (Yang’s Wicked co-star Ariana Grande already made the rounds on Hot Ones three months ago.)
While this will be Yang’s first time on Hot Ones, he gave the show a shoutout during a previous episode of SNL. Portraying Christopher Columbus on “Weekend Update”, the explorer claimed credit for the existence of Hot Ones via his discovery of spice.
Hot Ones is of course no stranger to the world of late-night. A murderer’s row of nighttime stars have taken on the Wings of Death over the years, perhaps none more memorably than Conan O’Brien. The show also flirted with the possibility of being in Emmy contention against the usual roster of late-night shows at this year’s Emmy Awards.
Fallon was the most recent late-night talent to guest on Hot Ones, appearing on Halloween to promote his new Christmas album, Holiday Seasoning.
The popular wing-eating-challenge program, hosted by Sean Evans, has been lampooned by Saturday Night Live multiple times in the past. Maya Rudolph played Beyoncé as a Hot Ones guest twice—once in 2021 and again earlier this year. Mikey Day played Evans both times.
Yang’s episode of Hot Ones drops on the First We Feast YouTube channel this Thursday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT.
