Fires Won’t Keep Bill Maher Away From HBO’s Real Time

It’s all systems go at HBO for this Friday’s Season 23 premiere of Real Time with Bill Maher.

Although L.A.’s devastating wildfires have halted production of a number of shows over the last week, Bill Maher and team are back at work after an extended holiday break, with plenty to talk about.

Based soley on who will be joining Maher at the table, it would seem Real Time will be striking a different tone from that seen on late night’s only other L.A.-based show that returned this week.

While Jimmy Kimmel has steered clear of criticism of the city’s response to the fires, Maher’s lead guest—billionaire real esatate developer Rick Caruso—who challenged L.A. Mayor Karen Bass in the city’s last election, and made headlines last week when he blasted the city for what he termed its lack of preparedness, and hired his own private firefighters to protect and save the mall he owns in Pacific Palisades, the Palisades Village Mall. (Although it’s now surrounded by devastation, the mall survived.)

It will be Caruso’s first appearance on Maher’s HBO series. Also making her Real Time debut Friday is Republican strategist and former Trump communications director Erin Perrine.

Rounding out the panel will be comedian, writer, and podcster Larry Wilmore, who will be making his seventh appearance on Real Time.

Real Time with Bill Maher returns Friday, January 17, at 10pm ET on HBO. It will also be available to stream on Max, and will re-air Saturday at 8pm ET/5pm PT on CNN.
