Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney Reveals First Guests

Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney premieres this Wednesday, and we now know who that “everybody” will include as Netflix has announced the show’s eccentric assortment of guests for its first episode.

John Mulaney will welcome actors Michael Keaton and Fred Armisen, musician Joan Baez, personal finance columnist Jessica Roy, and music from Cypress Hill.

Keaton is fresh off of a busy 2024. He starred in both Goodrich and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and hosted Saturday Night Live for the fourth time.

Baez’s booking marks the musician’s first major television appearance since the release of the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown. She was also the focus of the acclaimed 2023 documentary Joan Baez: I Am a Noise. (“Should be interesting and fun!” Baez teased of her appearance.)

Armisen, of course, is a friend and frequent collaborator of Mulaney. The pair worked together on Saturday Night Live, Big Mouth, and Documentary Now! and just co-starred on Broadway in Simon Rich’s All In: Comedy About Love. Armisen also appeared in a pre-tape for the third episode of Mulaney’s predecessor Netflix talker, John Mulaney Presents:  Everybody’s in LA, in which he led a focus group for aging punks.

There’s also some Netflix synergy at play: Armisen appears as Uncle Fester in the streamer’s Addams Family spinoff series Wednesday.

It’s the show’s last two guests that might provide an inkling what Mulaney has in store for viewers with his new show. Everybody’s in LA put a heavy focus on life in Los Angeles, and although the updated show is now called Everybody’s Live with what’s been described as “a broader focus,” it seems that California spirit will remain in its DNA, at least for Episode 1. Cypress Hill hails from Los Angeles’ South Gate, and journalist Jessica Roy currently works for the San Francisco Chronicle.

The inclusion of a personal finance columnist may also hint at a theme for Wednesday’s episode. (Each episode of Everybody’s in LA had a locally relevant theme—like coyotes, earthquakes, and the future of the city.)

As previously announced, Mulaney will also be joined by sidekick/announcer Richard Kind throughout the run of Everbody’s Live.

Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney premieres live on Netflix this Wednesday, March 12, at 10 PM ET/7 PM PT.
