Guest Hosts Return to Jimmy Kimmel Live! This Summer

In what’s become an annual tradition, Jimmy Kimmel Live!Jimmy Kimmel will once again be led by a rotating lineup of guest hosts as Jimmy Kimmel takes the summer off.

Kimmel confirmed his summer hiatus during a special Friday night edition of the show last week, after guest David Spade mentioned he’d be among this year’s fill-ins. Turning to the audience, Spade joked, “He’s out of here for three months. That feels a little chunky.” Kimmel corrected him: “It’s two months.” Spade shot back, “That’s a little fat, too.”

All signs point to Thursday, June 19, as Kimmel’s final episode before his return after Labor Day.

This will mark the fifth summer Kimmel has taken off, a break he first began during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. “There’s nothing wrong, I’m healthy, my family’s healthy,” he said at the time. “I just need a couple of months off.” He continued the tradition in 2021, 2022, and 2024. (Kimmel’s 2023 summer break coincided with the WGA and SAG strikes that shut down late-night production.)

Over the years, Kimmel’s summer replacements have included a star-studded lineup of guest hosts, including Martin Short, Dana Carvey, Chelsea Handler, Jeff Goldblum, RuPaul, Nikki Glaser, David Alan Grier, Al Franken, Rob McElhenney, Desus Nice, Joel McHale, George Lopez, Lamorne Morris, Sean Hayes, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Ryan Reynolds, Nicole Byer, Kerry Washington, and Simu Liu.

Aside from Spade, this summer’s guest host roster has yet to be revealed. With the first fill-in expected to take the stage just a week from now,  expect an announcement later this week.
