Daily Show Writers to Host Dog-Friendly Comedy Benefit in NYC

For one night later this month, The Daily Show is going to the dogs.

In a match made in canine comedy heaven, late night’s most dog-friendly workplace is putting on a special live show to benefit Every Last One Rescue, a New York City nonprofit dedicated to saving dogs from overcrowded shelters, particularly those at risk of euthanasia.

Scheduled for Friday, July 25, the one-night-only event invites both humans and their four-legged friends to enjoy a night of stand-up and tail wags at Boris & Horton, a dog-friendly café in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Yes, dogs are not only allowed, they’re encouraged to attend—so long as they’re well-socialized and up to date on all vaccinations as per NYC law.

The night’s lineup will feature six stand-up comics who also double as The Daily Show‘s writers: Ashton Womack, Joe Opio, Kat Radley, Nicole Conlan, Matt Koff, and Randall Otis. Fans of the show may recognize this crew from their previous stints on The Daily Show Writers Comedy Tour, where they brought their behind-the-scenes wit to live audiences across the country.

The Daily Show has long worn its love of dogs on its sleeve. Pets are frequent visitors to the show’s offices, a fact joyfully chronicled on the popular @DailyShowDogs Instagram account. Last year, the show’s staff even launched a national initiative—InDogCision 2024: Rescuing Democracy—combining voter registration drives with dog adoption events.

This month’s benefit is being co-organized by Must Love Dogs and Comedy, a group known for curating inclusive, pet-friendly comedy events that support animal welfare.
