Jon Stewart, Desi Lydic Share Daily Show Anchor Duties This Week

Comedy Central’s “Best F**king News Team” is back to work this Monday, with the first in a week of brand new episodes.

Franchise front man Jon Stewart kicks things off as Monday-night host, sitting down with Sherrilyn Ifill, a civil rights lawyer and founding director of Howard University’s 14th Amendment Center for Law & Democracy. It will be Ifill’s third visit to The Daily Show after interviews with Trevor Noah in 2020 and guest host Wanda Sykes in 2023.

Senior correspondent Desi Lydic will then take over the desk Tuesday through Thursday.

Lydic’s guest on Tuesday is Paul W. Downs, the co-creator, co-showrunner of Hacks. Downs, who also plays Deborah Vance’s manager Jimmy on the HBO Max series made his Daily Show debut last year with Michael Kosta.

On Wednesday, Lydic welcomes Marla Mindelle, the actor and writer currently promoting the Broadway musical Titaníque. Wednesday’s appearance will mark Mindelle’s first visit to Comedy Central staple.

Lydic’s Thursday guest has not yet been announced.

This will mark Lydic’s fourth cycle behind the Daily Show news desk this season; her most recent turn came five weeks ago. The 11-year Daily Show vet topped the show’s 2025 leaderboard among all of her fellow rotating correspondent-hosts, hosting 29 nights across the year. (Michael Kosta came in second at 25.)

Lydic was named winner of this year’s Grace Award for On-Air Talent (Entertainment), and will be feted May 19 at the awards show honoring women in media. She also was just a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last Thursday.

The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central, with episodes streaming the following day on Paramount+.
