Colman Domingo to Host April 11 SNL With Musical Guest Anitta

Saturday Night Live is lining up both a first-time host and musical guest for its April 11 episode.

NBC has announced that Colman Domingo is set to make his Studio 8H debut that night, alongside Brazilian singer Anitta.

The Emmy-winning and Academy Award–nominated Domingo will host SNL the eve of the Season 3 premiere of HBO’s Euphoria (where he plays recovering drug addict Ali Muhammad), and two weeks ahead of the release of the highly anticipated Michael Jackson biopic Michael (in which he portrays family patriarch Joe Jackson).

Also known for his work in Rustin and Fear the Walking Dead, Domingo has emerged as one of Hollywood’s busiest and most in-demand actors. The April 11 SNL will mark his first appearance on the long-running NBC sketch show.

Anitta, who is regarded as the most influential pop star in Brazil, is a two-time Grammy Award nominee (including for Best New Artist in 2023). Her SNL debut comes on the heels of the release of the first single, “Pinterest,” from her forthcoming eighth studio album, Equilibrium.

Domingo’s episode will serve as the second installment in a brief two-week April run for SNL, following the show’s April 4 pairing of Jack Black and musical guest Jack White. After April 11, the show is set to go dark for two weeks before returning in May for its final three episodes of Season 51.

Hosts and musical guests for those final episodes have yet to be announced.

I remember the days when SNL had people with comic talent host (Like Goodman, Baldwin, and Devito for example) just because thy were great at it. They didn’t need to have a new project to promote.

You could tell the cast and writers loved working and writing for them.

Now sub par writers are trying to write for people who bring nothing to the table.
