Denver won’t have to wait until September to get some new material from SNL’s “Weekend Update” co-anchors.
Michael Che and Colin Jost will be sharing a stage in Colorado in less than two weeks. The two comics will co-headline a show at Denver’s Bellco Theatre on Saturday, August 24.
The show will support the Zarlengo Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting learning disabled children in the Denver area.
Jost—most recently seen during an injury-plagued run as an Olympic surfing correspondent in Tahiti—has a few other standup dates on the horizon. The night before his show with Che, he’ll perform two shows in Beaver Creek, Colorado. He’s also be taking his comedy to the University of Connecticut next month, one night after stepping in for Pete Davidson at New York’s Rochester Fringe Festival.
Che has most recently been doing impromptu standup shows in London. While the comedian sparked some mild confusion over his future at SNL recently, he’s expected to return to the show alongside Jost when Season 50 premieres on September 28.
They’ve also hit the stage together in the past, including three shows in 2023 while the duo were waiting for SNL’s slightly strike-delayed 49th season to begin. (SNL ultimately returned on the day of their scheduled Radio City show, forcing them to reschedule the live performance.)
The duo hold the record of being Saturday Night Live’s longest-tenured “Weekend Update” team. They’ve commanded the desk together since 2014. Perhaps they’ll bring the joke swap to Denver?
