The Daily Show may have won the Emmy for Outstanding Talk Series Sunday night, but two other New York-based late-night shows are joining the Comedy Central series in taking home another prize: a Monday night off.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and The Daily Show will all be dark tonight as their hosts and other key personnel make their way back from Los Angeles, after attending last night’s Emmy Awards.
Colbert and Meyers are set to air repeats Monday night, while Comedy Central will air an episode of The Office in The Daily Show‘s usual 11 p.m. time slot.
All three shows will be back with new episodes Tuesday night.
That leaves just three late-night shows keeping the lights on tonight: The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on NBC, Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC, and After Midnight with Taylor Tomlinson on CBS.
Though it wasn’t always the case, recent years have seen the networks gift their nominated New York-based late-night shows with a post-Emmys night off, allowing staffers from the shows to take part in post-Emmy parties without having to jump on a red-eye and produce a new episode the very next day.
Staffers from The Daily Show may have partied a bit harder than their late-night counterparts last night after the show took home its second consecutive win for Outstanding Talk Series. Jon Stewart, who returned to The Daily Show in February as part-time host through the election, accepted the award on behalf of the show.
Sunday night’s win capped off a big week for the Comedy Central series, which notched its highest ratings since 2017 for a live episode following last Tuesday’s presidential debate.
