Chris Kattan has lined up some mini SNL reunions for a new improv-based podcast.
The Hollywood Reporter first reported that the former Saturday Night Live cast member, who appeared on the show from 1996 to 2003, is launching a new podcast titled Idiotically Speaking with Chris Kattan.
Described as a “comedy and variety show podcast” with a “Q&A and improv hybrid format,” the show will feature Kattan interviewing guests and then doing an improvised comedy game with them, alongside comedian co-hosts Andy Bolduc and Joseph Nuñez.
So far, all the upcoming guests are SNL alumni, many of whom shared the stage with Kattan during his time on the show. Former castmates Fred Armisen, Rachel Dratch, Tim Meadows, and Chris Parnell are all set to appear. Also joining will be Dana Carvey, Cecily Strong, and Bobby Moynihan—all of whom were on SNL outside of the Kattan years.
“Kattan invites his funniest friends to catch up on old times and hear about the new stuff, too (if we have to),” reads a press release for the show. “Then, our trio ropes their guest into an outrageous scenario where they have to improvise their way out!”
“It’s such a joy to get to interview old friends, reconnect, and chat about our journeys, from our days on SNL to our lives today,” Kattan said in a statement. “And we can’t wait for fans to hear the hilarious new sketches we’re cooking up with these comedy legends each week.”
Highlights from Kattan’s run on SNL include his role as one half of the Butabi brothers alongside Will Ferrell (which spawned the 1998 film A Night at the Roxbury), and his appearance in the legendary “More Cowbell” sketch.
Idiotically Speaking with Chris Kattan premieres Wednesday, July 24, and will be available on all podcast platforms.
