Bowen Yang Is Co-Hosting a New NBC Olympics Podcast

NBC is bringing yet another one of its late-night stars into the fold for its Summer Olympics coverage.

Saturday Night Live’s Bowen Yang is co-hosting an Olympics-focused podcast with his Las Culturistas podcast partner Matt Rogers.

In Two Guys, Five Rings: Matt, Bowen & The Olympics, Yang and Rogers will explore the culture of Paris as the city gears up to host the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. The duo will also dip their toes into the games themselves.

“Who are these athletes? When are the ‘games’ they’re playing?” Yang says in a trailer for the podcast. “You may be looking for the sports experts to answer those questions, but we’re not that.”

The new series, which is co-produced by iHeartMedia and NBCUniversal, is set to release new episodes Tuesdays through the Summer. The first episode was released yesterday.

While Two Guys, Five Rings has its own podcast feed, it no doubt hopes to pull in listeners from Yank and Rogers’ long-running Las Culturistas podcast. The duo launched that pop-culture-focused comedy talk show in 2016. (The trailer for their new Olympics series was shared to the Las Culturistas feed today.) Just last month, Las Culturistas won the Outstanding Podcast trophy at the GLAAD Media Awards.

Yang is just the latest name from NBC’s late-night roster to get involved with the Paris Olympics.

Jimmy Fallon signed on to co-host the closing ceremonies earlier this year after NBC Sports’ Mike Tirico invited him while guesting on The Tonight Show. SNL cast member Kenan Thompson will co-host a highlights show with Kevin Hart on Peacock. And fellow SNL alum Leslie Jones will be returning to NBC’s coverage as the network’s “chief super fan commentator.”

Most recently, The Tonight Show house band The Roots debuted a reimagined Olympic theme song to coincide with the Olympic Trials.

Bowen Yang has been with Saturday Night Live since 2018, when he was hired as a writer. He joined the cast a year later, and has been Emmy-nominated twice for his performances on the show.
