The headline coming out of this week’s Chris Rock-hosted Saturday Night Live may have been Adam Sandler’s 12:38 a.m. cameo in the show’s “Gallbladder Surgery” sketch, but it turns out Sandler made another cameo appearance on the show’s social channels that might best be described as an easter egg.
In a moment that only the most eagle-eyed of SNL fans have noticed, Sandler can be seen mugging for the camera in the background of a lip-dub video posted to the show’s social channels concurrent with his on-air appearance.
The video sees cast members Bowen Yang and Chloe Fineman roaming the halls outside SNL’s Studio 8H dressing rooms as they perform a lip-dub to musical guest Gracie Abrams’ song, “That’s So True” before running into Abrams herself, who joins in on the fun.
Halfway through the clip, someone in a Hawaiian shirt can be seen peeking out of their dressing room in the background over Fineman and Yang’s shoulders pumping his fist. That someone, of course, being Sandler.
As of this writing, the clip has clocked over 4.2 million views on TikTok and Instagram. You can watch it for yourself below:
Sander’s on-air appearance in the show’s “Gallbladder Surgery” sketch has received as much attention for reuniting him with his former SNL co-star Chris Rock as it has a temporarily malfunctioning prop that saw Sandler forced to vamp while a quick-thinking Sarah Sherman sprang into action to fix it.
