The Daily Show viewers hoping to see Jon Stewart weigh in on Donald Trump’s promise to send every American adult a $5,000 “dividend” if Republicans retain control of Congress will have to wait. With the Comedy Central series dark Monday night so that the show’s staff could attend the Emmys, Josh Johnson and Michael Kosta will split hosting duties this week.
Johnson kicks off the show’s three-night week Tuesday with actor and producer Danielle Brooks, who will discuss her new film If I Go Will They Miss Me.
On Wednesday, Johnson will welcome former Super Bowl quarterback, bestselling author, and civil rights activist Colin Kaepernick, who will promote his memoir The Perilous Fight.
Kosta will take over the desk Thursday, wrapping up the week with Giri Nathan, staff writer and cofounder of Defector Media and author of Changeover: A Young Rivalry and a New Era of Men’s Tennis.
This week’s run will mark Johnson’s fifth week at the desk this year, followed by Kosta, Desi Lydic and Jordan Klepper with six apiece, and Ronny Chieng with four. Johnson last hosted the week of June 22, while Kosta hosted two days last week.
The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central and is available to stream the next day on Paramount+.
