Jon Stewart and The Daily Show team are back to work today with the first in a shortened week of episodes.
As LateNighter exclusively reported last week, the show’s regular Monday host is switching to Tuesday night this week only, following yesterday’s Labor Day holiday. Stewart’s guest tonight will be Utah Gov. Spencer Cox, who’s promoting his new book, Off Ramp: How to Be a Peacemaker in an Age of Contempt.
Senior correspondent Michael Kosta will then take the desk Wednesday and Thursday.
Kosta is set to welcome New Yorker staff writer Jia Tolentino on Wednesday. She’ll be discussing her recent article, “Our Plastic-Surgery Nightmare.”
On Thursday, Kosta will sit down with actor Andrew Garfield, who’s promoting his new film The Uprising.
With this week’s run, Kosta joins fellow senior correspondents Desi Lydic and Jordan Klepper at six weeks behind the Daily Show desk so far this year. Josh Johnson and Ronny Chieng follow with four. Kosta last hosted the week of July 13.
Between Labor Day and another Monday off next week while staffers travel back from Sunday night’s Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, the show is easing its way back to work after taking off the entire month of August. After tonight’s episode, Stewart isn’t scheduled to return to the show until Monday, September 21.
The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central and is available to stream the next day on Paramount+.
