Saturday Night Live UK has set a date for its second series.
The British edition of the long-running sketch show will return Saturday, September 12, and the show’s entire inaugural cast is slated to return with it: Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, George Fouracres, Ania Magliano, Annabel Marlow, Al Nash, Jack Shep, Emma Sidi, and Paddy Young.
Series 2 will run 12 episodes, up from eight in its first year, with the season split into two halves. The first six episodes are set for September 12, September 19, September 26, October 10, October 17, and October 24. The remaining six episodes are planned for early 2027.
That September 26 installment will air the same night the U.S. edition of Saturday Night Live premieres its 52nd season.
There’s still no word on who will host or serve as musical guest for the SNL UK season premiere.
There are also a handful of changes behind the scenes. Laura Claxton has been promoted to co-head writer, joining existing head writer Jonno Johnson. Liz Clare returns as director, while Heather MacVean joins the show as costume designer. Sinead Oldnall will head up the UK talent team as director of onscreen talent.
Sky officially renewed SNL UK in May, before the conclusion of its inaugural run. The show’s initial Season 1 order was for six episodes, but that number was increased to eight ahead of its March 21 premiere.
“I’m incredibly proud of our team and the show. It keeps getting better every week,” executive producer and Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels said when the renewal was announced. “I’m grateful to [Sky Group CEO] Dana Strong and Sky for believing in and supporting SNL UK. I’m excited for the season ahead.”
Phil Edgar Jones, Sky’s Executive Director of Original Unscripted, called the show the network’s “most talked-about show of the year,” adding that it had become “firmly part of the cultural conversation.”
SNL UK airs live Saturdays at 10 p.m. GMT on Sky One. The show will continue to stream in the United States on Peacock Sundays.
