Colin Jost Teams With Former Broadway Video Exec for New Comedy

SNL‘s Colin Jost is venturing outside the traditional studio system for a new comedy series—and teaming with a longtime veteran of the Lorne Michaels universe to do it.

Jost and former Broadway Video president Andrew Singer are among the producers behind 6 Bed 1 Bath, a new independently financed comedy created by Jost and former The Office head writer Danny Chun.

The project is the first announced series from REVUE Studios, the independent comedy studio Singer launched last year after more than two decades at Michaels’ production company.

6 Bed 1 Bath follows five twentysomething roommates who share an apartment with a man who has lived there since 1982 and responded to rent increases over the years by building more bedrooms.

A rep for the series tells LateNighter that 6 Bed 1 Bath will consist of six half-hour episodes and is currently in post-production after recently wrapping production in New York. The series is expected to premiere in the first quarter of 2027, with episodes available for free across ad-supported video-on-demand platforms.

Thursday’s announcement did not reveal the cast or the specific platforms that will carry the series.

The way the show got made is a significant part of the announcement.

REVUE independently financed 6 Bed 1 Bath, providing its upfront capital and production infrastructure. Brand partnerships sourced by REVUE, CAA Entertainment Partnerships, and the show’s producers helped fund the project, a model designed to give its creators greater control while allowing the finished series to be distributed free to viewers.

“Danny and I just wanted to make a show we thought was funny and somehow those are the hardest shows to get made,” Jost said. “So we found a new, innovative way to do it outside of the normal studio system and we feel very lucky about how the cast and the crew came together. We’re excited for everyone to see it.”

In Singer, Jost is working with someone who spent much of his career in the same comedy ecosystem.

Singer joined Broadway Video in 2003, two years before Jost joined Saturday Night Live as a writer. He eventually became president of Broadway Video Film & Television and head of West Coast operations, overseeing development and production deals and executive producing series including Portlandia, Documentary Now!, A.P. Bio, Man Seeking Woman, Miracle Workers, The Other Two, and Detroiters.

The two have worked together directly before. Singer served as an executive producer on Staten Island Summer, the 2015 comedy written by and featuring Jost and produced by Michaels and John Goldwyn.

Singer left Broadway Video and launched REVUE in July 2025, pitching the new company as an independent, platform-agnostic home for comedy that could work with networks and streamers as well as live entertainment and social media platforms.

“REVUE is built to be a true home for the comedy and creative community—where talent can develop fresh ideas and share in their success, no matter the platform,” Singer said when announcing the venture. “Inspired by independent studios of the past, we are committed to creating a culture around artists, with unrelenting creative support and real investment.”

6 Bed 1 Bath now provides the first example of what that model looks like in practice, with REVUE putting up the financing and infrastructure and brand partnerships helping fund a series that will ultimately bypass a traditional network or streaming buyer.

The project also reunites Jost and Chun, who first wrote together at the Harvard Lampoon before going on to separate careers in television comedy. Chun wrote for The Simpsons before joining The Office. Jost joined Saturday Night Live in 2005, eventually becoming head writer and co-anchor of “Weekend Update.”

6 Bed 1 Bath was developed by These Pictures, the production company founded by Scarlett Johansson and producing partners Jonathan Lia and Keenan Flynn, and produced with REVUE and Jost’s No Notes Productions.

Executive producers include Jost, Johansson, Chun, Andrew Singer, Jeff Grosvenor, Jonathan Lia, Ryan Case, Molly McMillen, and Jon Liebman.
