Conan O’Brien’s final Late Night desk has surfaced at auction.
The desk, which sat on O’Brien’s Studio 6A set from September 4, 2001 through his final Late Night with Conan O’Brien episode on February 20, 2009, is currently being offered by Los Angeles-based auctioneer R. L. Spear. Apparently authentic, the listing identifies it only as “Host’s Desk From Early Era Of Popular Late Night Talk Show,” with dimensions of approximately 48″ x 24″ x 29″. As of this writing, bidding is up to $3,600.
For Conan completists, it’s a significant piece. O’Brien sat behind six desks total over his 28 years in late night, and this one had the longest run of any of them, serving as his on-air home base for more than seven years.
What’s less clear is where the desk has been since O’Brien signed off from Late Night in 2009.
Late-night set pieces have long held a special fascination for diehard fans, with host desks often treated as something closer to sacred relics than office furniture. Some of the highest-profile examples have landed in museums: The Paley Center in New York currently has Johnny Carson’s final Tonight Show set, while Chicago’s Museum of Broadcast Communications has three iconic late-night desks under one roof—and was recently gifted Stephen Colbert’s Late Show set.
Other desks have taken less institutional paths. Colbert’s Colbert Report desk was auctioned off for charity, while David Letterman’s original Late Show desk lives in J. Ryan’s home talk show studio (the show’s final desk was donated to Letterman’s alma mater, Ball State University).
Where Conan’s 6A desk lands next remains to be seen. But for a generation of viewers who came of age watching O’Brien’s NBC run, the listing offers a rare chance to own—or at least gawk at—a piece of late-night history.
Those looking to take a run at owning the desk can visit R. L. Spear’s auction site before bidding closes Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. PT.
