“He was joking around,” Nina Rosenstein, HBO’s EVP of Late Night told Deadline Monday of Maher’s recent comments in an episode of his podcast.

The two-time Oscar winner will sit down for a one-on-one interview on Maher’s post-election episode. It will mark Douglas’ first appearance on Real Time. (His father, Kirk Douglas, guested in 2012.)

The former Fox News star has guested on Maher’s HBO show twice before. Also set to appear this week are Colorado Gov Jared Polis and CNN contributor Van Jones.

The former president called the HBO host “obnoxious and disgusting” after Maher reiterated on Real Time that he believes Trump is “definitely going to lose.”
