One of Seth Meyers’ longtime writers is leaving the nest. Late Night with Seth Meyers writer Allison Hord is departing the show.
Hord shared the news on Instagram Monday, alongside photos from her time on the show. “Nine incredible years with Late Night!” she wrote. “What a run at the best job in New York with the best people and best bosses. Doing comedy at 30 Rock? A literal childhood dream.”
“I’m so grateful for all of it as I move on to the next chapter,” Hord added. “A big hug to everyone in the amazing Late Night family.”
Hord joined the Late Night writers’ room in 2016 and has been with the show for most of its run. Like many of the show’s writers, she’s become a familiar face to viewers over the years, appearing in solo segments, sketches like “Second Chance Theatre,” “Point, Counterpoint,” and even sponsored pieces.
Meyers paid tribute to Hord on Instagram after her announcement, writing: “Farewell to [Hord], the only Late Night writer who never bombed in ‘Surprise Inspection.’”
He echoed that praise in an installment of Surprise Inspection last year, noting, “Ally’s jokes always kind of work.” (In fact, per LateNighter’s own analysis, the number of rejected Hord jokes that made it into the segment was a fraction of her colleagues’ totals.)
Meyers added that he’s “excited for her next adventure.”
Hord has been nominated for five Emmy Awards as part of the Late Night writing staff.
what an amazing group of writers Seth has…I know he makes fun of them (as he does to himself) but they are awesome
Hopefully she is upgrading shows.
Thankfully it wasn’t Scollins…
