Nominations are in for the 30th annual Webby Awards—which celebrate achievements across podcasts, AI, websites, creators, video/film, social media, games, and apps/software—and the late-night space is once again well represented.
ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! racked up a total of six nods, in the following races: Best Creator, Personality or Host (Video & Film), Social & Games (Television & Film), Social Video Short Form (Television & Film), Series & Channels Comedy (Video & Film, for its YouTube channel); Interview, Talk & After-Show (Video & Film, also for its YouTube channel), and Social & Games (Celebrity/Fan).
Additionally, the investigative YouTube series The Rabbit Hole with Jimmy Kimmel earned three nominations.
NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon amassed five nominations—including for Best Creator, Personality or Host; its “Somebody I Used to Know” remix featuring Donald Trump and Elon Musk (in the Viral, Video Remixes & Mashups category); and the content produced by its TikTok feed— while the nearly hour-long “The Life of a Showgirl Deep Dive with Taylor Swift (Extended)” emerged as an honoree in the Music (Video & Film) category. CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is nominated for Social Video Short Form (Television & Film), as well as General Social (Television & Film).
Of note, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Tonight Show and The Late Show are up against the super-buzzy gay hockey romance Heated Rivalry in assorted social media categories, so… good luck there, fellas!
Comedy Central’s The Daily Show is nominated in the Social & Games (Comedy) category, while Desi Lydic is up for Best Individual Performance (Video & Film) for her Desi Lydic Foxsplains series. On the podcast front, The Weekly Show with Jon Stewart will vie for Best Series against The Pivot, What Could Go Wrong?, DC High Volume: Batman, and 30 for 30.
NBC’s Saturday Night Live is nominated for Best Overall Social Presence (Media/Entertainment), Best Storytelling or Narrative (for its Instagram Stories), and Best Use of Vertical Video. Additionally, SNL50: The Anniversary Special is up for Limited-Series & Specials: Events & Live.
Other late-night-adjacent Webby contenders include:
- In the Individual Episode: News & Politics podcast category, The View’s Behind the Table is nominated for “Joy Behar’s Message to Stephen Colbert,” which was offered in the wake of The Late Show’s shocking cancellation.
- The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast is up for Best Co-Hosts, competing against New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce, The Pivot, Smartless, and Sibling Rivalry.
- In the Comedy podcast race, Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend is up against Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers’ Las Culturistas, Dana Carvey and David Sage’s Fly on the Wall, Smartless, and Comedy Bang Bang.
- Thanks Dad with Ego Nwodim finds the SNL alumna nominated for Interview or Talk Show – Entertainment & Culture, Shows (Podcasts).
- The Best Partnership or Collaboration, Features (Podcasts) nominees include The Rest Is History: The Complete History of The Beatles with Tom Holland and Conan O’Brien and The Bowen Yang/Matt Rogers X Sesame Street X NBC Olympics Crossover Event.
Public voting is open now through April 16. The 30th annual Webby Awards, hosted by The Daily Show‘s Josh Johnson, will be presented Monday, May 11, at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City, and streamed on the Webby Awards YouTube channel.
