Watch: Jon Stewart Marks Daily Show Renewal With On-Air Thanks to Fans

Jon Stewart took a moment at the top of Monday night’s Daily Show to address the day’s big news—that The Daily Show has been renewed through the end of 2026.

“Lots of news to discuss, including, apparently—this is something I read today—the Daily Show will apparently be coming back for another year,” Stewart said at the top of the November 3 episode. “We got another year. It [will be] our 30th year when we come back [from the holidays]. And like most 30-year-olds, we are still thinking about going back to law school. Maybe a video director. I don’t know, we’re playing it by ear,” he joked.

He then addressed viewers more sincerely: “But listen. We want to thank everyone. We don’t take for granted how much all of your support means so that we get a chance to keep making the best show we can make for you. So we truly appreciate that. Thank you.”

Stewart’s remarks came the same day Comedy Central officially renewed The Daily Show through December 2026 and confirmed that Stewart will continue his weekly hosting duties through that period. The network also announced that the show’s five senior correspondents and hosts—Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, and Desi Lydic—will return in 2026, alongside correspondents Troy Iwata and Grace Kuhlenschmidt.

The renewal follows a strong run for The Daily Show, which recently notched its highest-rated quarter among adults 18–49 in more than four years, boosted by Stewart’s weekly hosting and a steady rotation of correspondents on other nights.

“Jon Stewart continues to elevate the genre he created. His return is an ongoing commitment to the incisive comedy and sharp commentary that define The Daily Show,” said Ari Pearce, Head of Comedy Central, in the renewal announcement. “The renewal is a win for audiences, for Comedy Central, and for all our programming partners.”

The Daily Show’s 30th season wraps December 11. Comedy Central has not yet announced a premiere date for Season 31, but sources tell LateNighter the show is targeting a January 5 return.
