The tandem-speaking identical twins who’ve taken the internet by storm made their late-night debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night, where they revealed they had no idea a clip of them had gone viral worldwide until Kimmel’s show contacted them.
The Australian identical twin sisters were interviewed by 7News Queensland earlier this week after helping their mother narrowly escape an armed carjacker. While the story they told was harrowing, the way they told it—in unison, while wearing the same outfit—is what’s captured the world’s attention since 7News first posted their eyewitness interview early Monday morning.
Kimmel staffers apparently tracked down the two women, Bridgette and Paula Powers, who agreed to appear on his show Tuesday night to discuss their newfound fame.
“You have caused quite a commotion with this video,” Kimmel told the duo, who appeared on the show remotely from their home in Australia. “When did you become aware that you had delighted the globe?”
“Well, when we heard from your show,” the sisters responded in unison.
Kimmel then asked the question we’ve all been wondering: Do they speak in tandem on purpose?
“No, no, no.” They responded. “This is us, and we’re—that’s how we are. We know that we annoy a lot of people out there, but you know what? If they can’t stand hearing us talk how we do, they can just simply turn off the TV.”
Kimmel then asked the twins to describe a typical day in their lives, which they proceeded to do—once again in perfect sync..
“I’m losing my mind right now,” Kimmel responded before asking if they could open each other’s iPhones with their faces.
“We share our phone,” they responded, to which Kimmel replied, “Of course you share a phone.”
The sisters, who again wore matching outfits, do apparently enjoy some autonomy. Asked by Kimmel whether they’ve ever considered getting “surgically sewn together to become conjoined twins, to get even closer to each other,” the twins emphatically shook their heads no.
Watch their full appearance below, and stay tuned… Kimmel seems intent on hosting them should they want to visit the United States.
Amazing sisters! It’s great that Kimmel found a story that makes people smile!
