FX’s comedy lineup just got even more impressive. The network has issued a series order for Snowflakes, a new half-hour comedy created by The Tonight Show writing duo Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw.
Per FX’s press release, the upcoming series is a “twenty-something ensemble comedy following a group of codependent housemates trying to be good people, despite being neither ‘good’ nor ‘people’ yet.”
Kronengold and Shaw—who penned the pilot—will serve as co-executive producers alongside comedian Nick Kroll, Baskets co-creator Jonathan Krisel (who also directed the pilot), and What We Do in the Shadows and Atlanta alum Stefani Robinson.
The starring cast so far includes Malik Elassal (Resident Alien), Lucy Freyer (Paint), Jack Innanen (The Dessert), Amita Rao (Emperor of Ocean Park), and Owen Thiele (Theater Camp).
Longtime writing partners Kronengold and Shaw boarded The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2019, becoming the youngest-ever writers on the series. The duo first garnered attention for their viral 2018 Yale graduation speech; they’re also the authors behind the 2023 short story collection Naked in the Rideshare: Stories of Gross Miscalculations.
Co-president of FX Entertainment Nick Grad said the network is “excited about the exceptional cast and powerhouse comedy team” behind Snowflakes and looking forward to introducing viewers to Kronengold and Shaw’s “brilliant comedic voice.”
“We’re so grateful to be telling this story about a group of friends navigating the hardest, horniest time of life together,” Kronengold and Shaw said in a joint statement. “FX comedies have defined our generation, and we can’t wait to show them the consequences.”
Snowflakes is slated to premiere on FX sometime in 2025.
