A slew of late-night hosts are finally turning the lights back on this week after some PTO. Meanwhile, three of the last shows standing last week are going dark.
Monday, April 29 will mark the return of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Fallon & Meyers have been on an extended two-week spring break, and Colbert joined them last week.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! will be back with new episodes as well. Kimmel has pumped out new episodes all April long, but was off Thursday night for the NFL draft.
Saturday Night Live is also back later this week with host and musical guest Dua Lipa, after taking two weeks off.
As each of these programs return, three of the shows that have been holding down the fort are going on break themselves. Both After Midnight and The Daily Show won’t have new episodes this week. There won’t be a new episode of Last Week Tonight on Sunday, either.
Those still on break are taking full advantage this weekend.
On Saturday Colin Jost will face comedy’s most daunting stage, the Washington Hilton, as he hosts the White House Correspondents Dinner. Jost’s SNL colleague Kenan Thompson will be on the other side of the country, hosting the Kenan Thompson Pop Up Comedy Festival at Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club in Las Vegas.
