Survivor 50 Promo Teases a Jimmy Fallon Twist—What Could It Be?

Jeff Probst wanted Jimmy Fallon on Survivor‘s 50th season. Well, he got his wish—in some form or another.

Months after Probst pitched the idea of Fallon hosting a future edition of Survivor, a new teaser reveals that the Tonight Show host does influence the next, milestone season in some capacity.

Promising new twists for the show’s 25th anniversary, the Survivor 50 teaser trailer features contestants reacting to Zac Brown, a “Billie Eilish boomerang idol,” and an appearance by MrBeast. At one point, former Survivor: David vs. Goliath contestant Christian Hubicki is shown in disbelief, remarking, “Jimmy Fallon may decide my fate in this game.”

CBS’ latest press release for Survivor 50, meanwhile, simply describes Fallon and those other celebs as being “part of [the] milestone season in unique ways.”

Exactly how Fallon is in a position to decide any castaway’s fate was left shrouded in mystery. His involvement in Survivor 50, though, was set in motion months before filming commenced in June.

Back in February, Fallon welcomed Probst onto The Tonight Show to tease a season that was putting things “In the Hands of Fans.” After Fallon surveyed his audience to find that most wanted Probst to be a contestant instead of host for Season 50, Probst asked the audience, “If I were to appear on Survivor in some fashion, should Jimmy host?”.

Though Fallon brushed it off, Probst stuck out his hand to shake on the arrangement.

“I don’t know what that means,” said a confused Fallon. “Am I on Survivor? What happened?”

While it’s clear Probst is sticking to his hosting duties for Season 50, a quick one-off substitution by Fallon is always possible. But Fallon could also have designed one of the show’s challenges. In fact, he has masterminded concepts for Survivor before, often emailing ideas to Probst.

Probst previously revealed that it was Fallon who first pitched the idea for the show’s 31st season, Survivor: Second Chance. And in Season 39, Fallon concocted the idea to bring back two former contestants as coaches who would watch the Tribal Council from a perch. After pitching it to Probst, the twist became a key part of the season.

“Jeff probably regrets giving me his email after he was on my show a few years ago,” Fallon told The Hollywood Reporter at the time.

Survivor fans will have to wait a bit longer to see just how Fallon is involved in the Fiji-based season. Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans premieres on CBS Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
