A certain kind of “vibes,” a Lonely Island keepsake, and much unopened jam from Lorne Michaels are on the itinerary as two Saturday Night Live scribes lead a rare tour of the iconic comedy series’ hallowed offices.
In the video below, SNL writers Ceara O’Sullivan and Jimmy Fowlie welcome to the production offices Sadie Sandler and Chloe East, the two leads of the upcoming Netflix comedy Roommates—which Fowlie and O’Sullivan penned.
Premiering next Friday, April 17, the film from Adam Sandler‘s Happy Madison shingle follows Devon (played by Sadie Sandler, daughter of Adam), a hopeful, naive college freshman, as she asks the cool and confident Celeste (Genera+ion‘s Chloe East) to be her roommate. A blossoming friendship then “spirals into a war of passive aggression,” the film’s synopsis tells us.
Current SNL cast members Sarah Sherman and Martin Herlihy have roles in the movie, as do Janeane Garofalo, Nick Kroll, Carol Kane, Natasha Lyonne, Josh Segarra, Bailee Madison, and, yes, Adam Sandler himself.
The behind-the-scenes tour reunites Sandler and East with Sherman, whose office is playfully described by Fowlie as having “pornographic vibes.” The group also swings by to see writer Carl Tart (who now has custody of The Lonely Island’s stapler), and then the trifecta of Herlihy, Tommy Brennan, and writer Jack Bensinger, who are in possession of multiple crates of “jam” gifted by boss man Lorne Michaels. (As shared in the upcoming Lorne documentary, Michaels is known to make preserves from the blueberries that grow at his vacation property in Maine.)
Ben Marshall and Marcello Hernández also put in appearances, after which Sandler regards her dad’s OG SNL headshot hanging on the hallway wall. We also learn that Sadie, who turns 20 next month, first met Fowlie and O’Sullivan at an SNL afterparty.
