SNL’s Jane Wickline Hits 100-Sketch Milestone

Jane Wickline marked a milestone on tonight’s Matt Damon-hosted Saturday Night Live: her 100th sketch.

Wickline’s appearance in “Godzilla,” her first sketch of the May 9 episode, was the one that put her over the top.

Ashley Padilla, who’s part of the same SNL class as Wickline, was the last player to hit the 100 mark, back on December 14.

Wickline joined SNL as a featured player beginning with the sketch comedy series’ 50th season, in September 2024. At first mainly known for her solo musical appearances on “Weekend Update,” Wickline has had a number of other hits this season, starting with her and Veronika Slowikowska’s musical pretape, “Cousin Planet,” which aired during the Dec. 6 episode hosted by Melissa McCarthy.

That was followed by “Winter Olympics Promo,” which aired during Alexander Skarsgård’s January 31 episode and cast her as terrified luger Gertie Burper. In the pretaped, while other Winter Olympians (played by Marcello Hernández and Chloe Fineman) delivered expected platitudes about passion and purpose, Wickline’s Gertie revealed that she finds her sport horrifying, and only succeeds because of her unusually perfect “shape.” Wickline played the character’s panic for maximum effect, as Skarsgård’s coach encouraged her by literally shoving her down the track and insisting “the sport needs her.”

On the recurring front, Wickline and Hernández have popped up on “Weekend Update” as “The Couple You Can’t Believe Are Together.”

LateNighter’s recently published SNL Exit Index placed good odds on Wickline being asked back for Season 52. Though she ranked near the bottom in screen time last year, she recently scored a career-best, racking up nearly eight minutes in the show’s Colman Domingo-hosted April 11 episode.

WME recently signed Wickline with an eye toward helping her scale in television, comedy, digital, and beyond.
