Producers have added an additional five music headliners and six SNL alums to Friday night’s SNL50: The Homecoming Concert.
NBC has just announced that Cher, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Snoop Dogg, St. Vincent and Wyclef Jean have joined the all-star lineup of returning Saturday Night Live musical guests set to hit the stage at Radio City Music Hall tomorrow night.
The network also officially revealed that several SNL alums will also be participating in the Jimmy Fallon-hosted event, naming Ana Gasteyer, Andy Samberg, Maya Rudolph, Paul Shaffer, Tracy Morgan, and Will Ferrell, and promising more surprise guests.
In a Today show appearance earlier this week, Gasteyer let slip that she and Will Ferrell were planning to revive their classic characters Bobbi Mohan-Culp and Marty Culp at Friday night’s show. We’ll take today’s announcement as confirmation.
The newly anounced performers join an already stacked lineup that includes Arcade Fire, Backstreet Boys, Bad Bunny, Bonnie Raitt, Brandi Carlile, Brittany Howard, Chris Martin, Dave Grohl, David Byrne, DEVO, Eddie Vedder, Jack White, Jelly Roll, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Mumford & Sons, Post Malone, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Robyn, The B-52s, and The Roots.
As with all things SNL, Lorne Michaels is ultimately responsible for Friday night’s concert, but with music being the centerpiece of the event (and the Saturday Night Live creator/showrunner presumably having his hands full producing the show’s anniversary special), Michaels has tapped Oscar-winning music super producer Mark Ronson to co-produce the event.
SNL50: The Homecoming Concert streams live on Peacock this Friday, February 14th, at 8pm ET/5pm PT. It will also be shown at select Regal IMAX theaters nationwide. The concert is a precursor to Sunday night’s main event, SNL50: The Anniversary Special.
