She’s the Bill Murray to his David Letterman.
It was ten years ago this week that Seth Meyers first took on the mantle of NBC’s Late Night franchise. At the time, he was best known for his work on SNL’s Weekend Update, so it only made sense that his first guest would be his former co-anchor, Amy Poehler.
Although the show has kept plans for next Monday’s 10th anniversary episode under wraps, we now know at least one person who will be there to help celebrate: Amy Poehler.
Poehler has appeared with Meyers on Late Night at least 17 times, most recently in late December 2023.
No word yet on whether any of Meyers’ other guests from his first episode will also appear, but considering that one of them is now the sitting President of the United States, we wouldn’t be surprised to see at least a pre-taped message from Joe Biden.
For his part, Meyers is keeping expectations low. Asked at last month’s Emmy Awards how he planned to mark the show’s tenth anniversary on air, he told The Hollywood Reporter, “one solitary balloon, one solitary cupcake. We’ve been told that’s the budget.”
The tenth anniversary episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers airs Monday February 26th on NBC.
