Live from Los Angeles, it’s a brand-new record for Saturday Night Live. With 11 wins at Sunday night’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards, the NBC sketch institution has officially logged its biggest Emmy year in history—and the total could climb even higher when the Primetime Emmys are handed out next Sunday.
In all, SNL has now amassed a record 112 Emmy Award wins since its debut in 1975. That’s 53 more than its closest competitor, Game of Thrones, cementing the NBC sketch show’s place as the most awarded television program in Emmy history.
Sunday’s record haul came across a mix of honors for both the weekly series and its primetime 50th Anniversary Special. The main show picked up wins in production design, lighting design, and technical direction, while the anniversary broadcast dominated with trophies for directing, writing, emerging media, sound mixing, makeup, hairstyling, editing, and technical direction.
And the celebration isn’t over yet. SNL is still in contention for four more Primetime Emmys next weekend, with nominations for Bowen Yang (Comedy Supporting Actor), along with Variety Scripted Series, Variety Writing, and Variety Special (Live).
