Samantha Bee is Launching a New Podcast for The Daily Beast

Samantha Bee’s next show is taking shape.

Per Variety, Bee will host a new podcast for The Daily Beast, aptly titled The Daily Beast Podcast. It’s part of an initiative at the outlet to expand its podcast slate.

The publication found new leadership in April, when former Disney-ABC Television Group president Ben Sherwood and former Hearst Magazines chief content officer Joanna Coles boarded the publication. Coles, who holds the same CCO title at The Daily Beast, will co-host the podcast with Bee.

“Friends. I have some news,” Bee announced on Twitter/X. “I’m teaming up with my BBF (Best British Friend) @JoannaColes for the new The Daily Beast Podcast.” The pair also appeared in a teaser offering a first look at the show.

In the weekly show, Bee and Coles “will navigate the latest in politics, pop culture, and everything in between,” a description reads. “It will be like the best dinner party you’ve ever been to, just without any food.”

The comedian is already somewhat familiar with the world of podcasts at The Daily Beast. She recently recorded her third appearance on The Last Laugh, the site’s popular interview series in which host Matt Wilstein sits down with some of the world’s funniest people.

Bee has been fairly quiet since her late-night show, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, ended its run in 2022. The TBS series debuted in 2016 and ran for seven seasons. Bee had previously been a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart from 2003 to 2015, making her the longest-running correspondent in the franchise’s history.

Former late-night host and Daily Show alum Larry Wilmore will also serve as a new contributor for The Daily Beast—one of more than 30 names in journalism and comedy the site is adding in its new era, according to Variety

The Daily Beast Podcast is sponsored by Five9, an AI-optimized cloud-based call center platform.

New episodes of The Daily Beast Podcast will release every Thursday.
