Sabrina Carpenter and Seth Meyers get into the holiday spirit—er, spirits—in a new installment of the host’s long-running “Day Drinking.”
The segment, released online ahead of its airing Tuesday night on Late Night with Seth Meyers, finds the duo taking the phrase “drink and be merry” to heart as they forge a fast friendship over a series of festive games.
In one, Meyers presents Carpenter with a challenge in which both are tasked with unwrapping presents while wearing oven mitts. Each box contains a mystery libation that the other has to drink. After Meyers resorts to cutting wrapping paper with his teeth and hurling boxes against a wall, Carpenter is left to endure sips of a BuzzBallz ready-to-drink cocktail and Eggo’s 40-proof Brunch in a Jar.
“That literally tastes like a candle,” Carpenter says of the latter.
“How do you know what a candle tastes like?” Meyers replies.
Later, the two play Spill the Tea—a truth-or-drink game played over a shared, oversized Long Island iced tea—when Meyers puts Carpenter on the spot by asking her to rate him.
“I know I’m not a 1 and I know I’m not a 10,” he says. “What am I?”
Carpenter responds without hesitation: “A 7!”
“You sure you don’t want to take a f*cking drink?” Meyers shoots back, seemingly stung by her candor. Carpenter recovers some ground by guessing the 51-year-old host’s age as 45. (“I was six years off!” she reacts. “You have so much time!”)
Not every truth makes it to the table. At one point, Carpenter asks Meyers to name her worst sketch from her recent SNL hosting debut. Meyers immediately has an answer—but declines to share it.
“You know, I have an answer, but I have a lot of respect for the people who put that show together,” he explains.
The segment wraps with Carpenter decorating Meyers like a Christmas tree as the Late Night host sings along to holiday carols. Dressed in a green turtleneck, Meyers is soon covered in garland, lights, and a beanie topped with a star.
The first “Day Drinking” segment aired on Late Night with Seth Meyers in June 2015, originally conceived as a one-off featuring Meyers and his brother Josh. It has since become one of the show’s most popular recurring segments,
