Sabrina Carpenter Channels Carrie Bradshaw in New SNL Promo

Sabrina Carpenter is taking a bite out of Saturday Night Live and drawing inspiration from Carrie Bradshaw.

The musician, gearing up for double duty on SNL this weekend, evokes Sarah Jessica Parker’s Sex and the City character in a just-released promo.

Aping the classic HBO series, SNL‘s promo swaps in Carpenter for Bradshaw as an SATC-style title sequence presents “Sabrina and the City,” setting the stage for the Grammy-winning musician’s first time hosting SNL.

“New York is one big apple, and I’m taking my bite at Saturday Night Live,” Carpenter narrates as she steps off an elevator into the hallway outside Studio 8H. There, she encounters a parade of familiar SNL faces.

First up is new hire Tommy Brennan, making his SNL promo debut. “Sabrina! What are you up to?” he asks.

“In these heels? Probably like five-four,” she replies.

Carpenter then moves on to Sarah Sherman, spinning a question about the “weekend” into a euphemistic remark about a “strong end” and slapping Sherman’s backside as she walks away. (In perfect Sherman fashion, the sound of the slap is accompanied by a clown noise.)

Next, Carpenter calls out to “Mr. Big” from across the hall—until it’s revealed she’s referring to Marcello Hernández. Carpenter and Hernández have some history: after Hernández’s “Domingo” character performed a parody of Carpenter’s “Espresso” on SNL, he later reprised the role during one of her concerts. The pair then shared the screen again in another “Domingo” sketch for SNL’s 50th Anniversary Special.

While Hernández’s appearance in the promo is expected, the next performer comes as a surprise: writer Martin Herlihy. A familiar face from the in-house sketch troupe Please Don’t Destroy, Herlihy stayed on as a writer this season after the group’s formal association with SNL ended, while partner Ben Marshall was promoted to a full-fledged cast member.

The show pokes fun at Herlihy’s less recognizable status, depicting Carpenter mistaking him for a fan.

“The woman wondered what she had gotten herself into,” Carpenter journals à la Carrie Bradshaw to close out the segment. Despite realizing that the laptop isn’t even turned on, the SNLers heap blind encouragement on Carpenter.

Sabrina Carpenter pulls double duty on this weekend’s SNL, serving as both host and musical guest. She previously appeared as musical guest in May 2024 for the show’s Season 49 finale and has returned to Studio 8H twice since: once for the SNL50 special, and again for a cameo during host Quinta Brunson’s monologue in May 2025.
