Fla. Bakery Hit With ‘Thousands’ of Orders After Ryan Gosling’s Late Night Shout-Out

Call it “Project Holy Moly!”

A Tallahassee bakery owned by the sister of Late Night with Seth Meyers crew member Donna Richards was flooded with “thousands of requests” after movie star Ryan Gosling raved on-air about its “incredible” spin on Pop Tart-type pastries.

Upon spying Richards off-camera during his March 18 Late Night hit, Gosling—who’d been dressed by the veteran costumer when he hosted Saturday Night Live earlier this month—said that her sister Linda’s The Cake Shop makes “the most incredible” Popped-Tarts pastry.

Over at SNL, “Donna gives them to you at the beginning of the show, when you start hosting,” Gosling shared. “So you’re just running on pop tarts the whole night.”

Meyers dryly remarked, “This is fascinating… We’re just in year 12 of the show, and not a single tart has popped for ol’ Seth.

“I didn’t even know she had a family!” he quipped.

As reported by WCTV in Tallahassee, by mid-afternoon the following day The Cake Shop had sold more than 100 Popped-Tarts in the shop alone, and orders were pouring in from all over the country, “some for batches of hundreds at a time.”

“The phone rings off the hook,” Linda Richards told the local newser. “I have thousands of requests.”

Linda has in turn asked her bakery’s brand-new fans for some patience, since it will take “weeks” to fulfill the flurry of first-time orders.
