Rose Byrne Suggests Kimmel Succeed Conan in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You 2

Academy Award nominee Rose Byrne thinks that Jimmy Kimmel should take a cue from peer Conan O’Brien and consider a dramatic acting turn.

In If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, the acclaimed psychological thriller written and directed by Mary Bronstein, Byrne stars as Linda, a woman who— with her life crashing down around her—attempts to navigate her child’s mysterious illness, her absent husband, a missing person, and an increasingly hostile relationship with her therapist.

Said shrink is played by late-night TV vet Conan O’Brien, in his first dramatic acting role.

“He’s so lovely,” Byrne said of O’Brien during her appearance on Tuesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! “Are you guys friendly?” she asked the host.

“We are, yes,” Kimmel affirmed, adding: “I texted him after I saw the movie, and I told him I thought he was really good in it.”

“He did such a good job. I think he said no initially,” Byrne shared, “and Mary Bronstein, our writer-director, just had this idea about him….”

To Kimmel, she then proposed, “Maybe you’re next. Who knows?”

“Oh, is there going to be a sequel…? Is there going to be a f I Had Legs I’d Kick You 2?” asked Kimmel.

Byrne—who in addition to being Oscar-nominated for Lead Actress, already has won a Golden Globe and BAFTA Award for the role—pretended to act coy about any such remote possibility. Still, Kimmel said he is game to be her next shrink. But with a twist.

“I would like to be your actual therapist,” he quipped to the Aussie actress. “I want to know all of your secrets.”
