Real Time with Bill Maher will air its final episode of the year tonight, wrapping the show’s 23rd season on the air at HBO.
Joining Maher for his Season 23 finale will be podcaster and best-selling author Mel Robbins, political stratgist Donna Brazile, and rapper/activist Killer Mike.
Real Time is now HBO’s longest running series still on the air, and the third longest overall, behind Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel (which ended in December 2023 after 29 seasons) and Inside the NFL (which aired for 31 seasons from 1977-2008).Mel
The show was nominated for twelve Emmy awards between 2005 and 2017, and has spawned two books based on Maher’s trademark “New Rules” segment, which remarkably began with the show’s very first episode.
In March of 2024, episodes of Real Time began re-airing on CNN on a one-day delay. The news channel has since paired its original comedy panel show Have I Got News For You with the HBO series to form a political comedy block on Saturday nights.
Though he set tongues wagging last year when he suggested he was ready to quit his show after Donald Trump was elected to a second term in the White House, he’s since walked back those comments, telling telling CNN, “I don’t know where this started about I’m getting rid of Real Time. They’re going to have to drag me off of that show.”
Maher’s current contract with HBO takes him through Season 24, which will late next year.
In addition to Real Time, Maher also hosts the popular podcast Club Random with Bill Maher.
Real Time with Bill Maher is set to return with new episodes in January 2026.

He thinks he’s the smartest person in the room, when in reality, he’s an obnoxious stupidfuck that doesn’t know what the fuck he’s talking about, while threatening his audience to laugh and cheer everything he does! The sooner HBO kicks that slime covered hole to the curb, the better society will be!
He has become more jaded with each season. and he seems to adopt MAGA empty rhetoric now, often blurting “woke” etc. to a degree FOX News would be giddy about. But is he becoming as dense as Bondi et al. who think that nefarious cabals lurk behind such dysphemisms? He also seems to have unwavering support of Israel’s turning Gaza into rubble–Their targeting of Hamas couldn’t have been more strategic? I could go on. The point is that he’s a comedian, and a good one; nonetheless, though he jabs both left and right, his left jabs more often miss the mark, though he thinks he’s Ali.
But that’s what happens when a toxic narcissist, like Bunghole Bill Maher, thinks his shit don’t stink, when, in reality, he reeks to high heaven!
