Late Night Ratings: Friday, July 19, 2024

It was a repeat-heavy Friday for late-night, and NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon emerged as the dominant program at 11:35 p.m., both in total viewers and among Adults 18-49.

NBC presented a rebroadcast of The Tonight Show’s July 8 episode on Friday, and the 11:35 p.m. telecast averaged 1,257,000 total viewers with 227,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +75% and +77%, respectively, from the previous night (the Thursday episode start time was delayed due to live RNC coverage). The July 19 Tonight Show telecast also improved by +2% in total viewers and +7% in P18-49 from the previous Friday’s Tonight Show (a rebroadcast).

Repeats of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! and CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert split second place in the 11:35 p.m. ratings race on July 19.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! (July 11, 2024 episode) averaged 986,000 total viewers with 120,000 P18-49 at 11:35 p.m. this past Friday, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +31% and -8%, respectively, from Thursday; -1% and -31%, respectively, from the previous Friday’s Kimmel (a rebroadcast).

The Late Show (July 9, 2024 episode) averaged 944,000 total viewers and 130,000 P18-49 this past Friday at 11:35 p.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -13% and -3%, respectively, from Thursday; -27% and -10%, respectively, from the previous Friday’s telecast (a rebroadcast).

Similar to Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers dominated its timeslot competition. NBC presented a rebroadcast of Meyers‘ July 8, 2024 episode this past Friday, and the telecast averaged 665,000 total viewers with 117,000 P18-49 at 12:35 a.m., per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +15% in total viewers and +4% in P18-49 from Thursday; -16% and -38%, respectively, from the previous Friday’s telecast (also a rebroadcast).

Following Colbert was a rebroadcast of After Midnight on CBS. The rebroadcast (the show’s May 6, 2024 episode) averaged 382,000 total viewers with 81,000 P18-49 viewers, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s -8% but +31%, respectively, from Thursday; -27% and -19%, respectively, from the previous Friday telecast (another rebroadcast).

Following Kimmel, ABC aired a new episode of Nightline, and it averaged 579,000 total viewers with only 59,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s up +20% in total viewers but -33% in P18-49 viewers from Thursday’s first-run episode; -14% and -54%, respectively, relative to the previous Friday’s Nightline.
