Please Don’t Destroy Sketch Special Gets Teaser, Release Date

Saturday Night Live‘s in-house sketch troupe is bringing their stage show to YouTube, with a just-released teaser trailer (above) revealing a guest appearance by none other than Conan O’Brien.

Please Don’t Destroy‘s imaginatively-titled “live sketch special/tour doc” will be released exclusively to their YouTube channel on July 14th.

The group—comprised of SNL writers Martin Herlihy, John Higgins, and Ben Marshallfirst revealed the release while appearing on Mike Birbiglia’s podcast Working It Out last month, explaining that the special is comprised of material from their 2023 summer tour, which saw the group visit 26 cities during their summer off.

The project was edited by Higgins’ wife, comedian Emily Wilson.

“For our last tour, we had a camera rolling the entire time,” the group wrote alongside the teaser. “We independently filmed a bunch of our live shows and backstage pieces along the way hoping to make something cool – a hybrid documentary and comedy special like the ones we loved growing up.”

Of course no throwback-style comedy special would be complete without a few high-wattage guest stars, with the teaser revealing a backstage moment with Conan O’Brien, who can be seen prepping for an appearance at one of their shows. (O’Brien played Ben Marshall’s father in the group’s 2023 feature film, Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain.)

“Really proud of this one, can’t wait for you guys to see,” the group said in an Instagram post.

As we’ve reported, Please Don’t Destroy has a a new tour planned this summer, with an itinerary that will take them to seven cities between late July and early September.
