SNL’s Please Don’t Destroy to Release New Live Special

Saturday Night Live’s in-house sketch troupe Please Don’t Destroy is prepping a new “tour documentary/special” for release this summer.

Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy shared their plans on a new episode of comedian Mike Birbiglia’s podcast Working It Out released today. The special will compile material from the group’s 2023 summer tour, which saw them perform 26 dates during their time off from SNL.

“We filmed a bunch of the shows on the road, and we cut them all together,” Marshall told Birbiglia. “It’s taken so long, but it’s going to finally come out this summer and we’re super pumped about it.”

Higgins added that the project was edited by his wife, Emily Wilson. A comedian in her own right, Wilson opened for PDD on that tour and just released a special of her own, FIXED: How I Got REJECTED by Reality TV, on YouTube.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether the new PDD special will also be released on YouTube or elsewhere.

This weekend will see Please Don’t Destroy wrap their fourth year as writers and occasional performers on SNL, and while this season has seen fewers of their PDD videos, they’ve remained active as ever in the writers room, where they’ve quietly been behind over a dozen sketches this season, including “Charades with Mom,” “Grandpa’s Magic Car,” and “Funeral Home.”

As we’ve reported, Please Don’t Destroy is headed back out on the road this summer for another live tour that will take them to seven cities between July and September.
