Wednesday night’s episode of NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon welcomed as guests Tom Blyth and Emily Bader—the stars of People We Meet on Vacation, Netflix’s latest buzzy adaptation of a romance novel.
The first screen adaptation of one of Emily Henry’s best-selling novels, People We Meet on Vacation stars Bader (My Lady Jane) as free-spirited Poppy, and Englishman Blyth (Billy the Kid) as straighter-laced Alex.
In tried-and-true friends-to-lovers fashion, the Netflix flick chronicles 12 years of Alex and Poppy’s relationship—including the summer trips they take together every year. As the two grow ever closer over time, they reach a tipping point and find themselves no longer able to deny that which is obvious to everyone else: dammit, they are MFEO.
Given his guests’ bona fides as rom-com stars, Fallon on Wednesday night tasked them with taking classic movie lines and putting a sweetly sexy spin on each.
