No New Last Week Tonight with John Oliver This Week

Last Week Tonight’s next episode will have two busy weeks of news to cover, because John Oliver is taking this Sunday, March 21, off.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver is dark this week—the show’s first break of the new season. Since kicking off Season 12 in February, Oliver has delivered five straight weeks of deep-dives looking into Trump’s second term, Facebook, tipping, ICE, and sports betting.

This season has also seen the return of each episode’s main story being posted to YouTube early Monday mornings—something HBO had prohibited the show from doing last season.

While Season 12 has barely begun, there’s plenty more to come. The show was renewed for three seasons back in 2023, meaning fans have at least one more year of Oliver’s political humor to enjoy.

Oliver isn’t the only late-night host taking some time off. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, After Midnight, and Late Night with Seth Meyers were all on break this past week, leaving broadcast TV’s late-night hours to the two Jimmys.

Last Week Tonight returns next Sunday, March 30 at 11pm ET.

Next weekend will also mark the return of SNL—yet another show on break this past week—with host Mikey Madison and musical guest Morgan Wallen.
