Late Show with David Letterman is back. Well, sort of.
David Letterman took to his YouTube channel’s Barbara Gaines Show to announce a new line of merch Thursday, marking the first time in years that new Late Show merchandise has been available.
“Oh, that’s fantastic!” Letterman replied when Gaines revealed the merch.
“The Late Show was the original show,” he added, before correcting himself. “No, Late Night was the original show.”
Among the items available in the new Worldwide Pants store are hoodies, t-shirts, a beanie, and a trucker hat, each featuring the outline of Letterman’s bearded head that serves as his YouTube channel’s official logo. In addition, the My Next Guest Needs No Introduction host has also printed hoodies and t-shirts for his previous show. A hoodie featuring his Late Show’s logo is available in blue, while a t-shirt emblazoned with the logo can be purchased in navy or royal blue.
While Letterman hasn’t hosted Late Show since 2015, he’s presumably still able to sell merchandise for the show as a result of the deal he made with CBS back in 1993. When Letterman made the leap from NBC, he negotiated ownership of his new CBS program under his Worldwide Pants production banner.
Letterman’s new merch is available at this link. It’s unclear if the Worldwide Pants store will release more items down the line, but Gaines, Letterman’s former Late Show executive producer, did make a compelling argument in the announcement video.
“I have noticed, though, that there’s no BGS merch,” the Barbara Gaines Show host pointed out.
