Morgan Wallen Turns His SNL Controversy into Merch

Morgan Wallen has yet to directly comment on his hasty exit from the Saturday Night Live stage during last weekend’s goodnights, but that isn’t stopping him from cashing in on all the attention it’s brought him recent days.

On Tuesday Wallen began selling merchandise emblazoned with his now-viral phrase “Get me to God’s country,” Variety first reported.

The country artist’s online shop is offering two trucker hats and a t-shirt featuring a Coors Light-inspired design that reads, each priced at $45 and currently on pre-order. Wallen offered no additional commentary alongside the merch drop.

Wallen made headlines this weekend by abruptly walking offstage during SNL’s traditional “goodnights” segment. The musical guest briefly appeared alongside host Mikey Madison before exiting home base and walking past the camera without exchanging hugs or handshakes with the show’s cast members. Shortly afterwards, he posted a photo of a private jet to his Instagram story captioned “Get me to God’s country,” presumably skipping the show’s after party.

The behavior sparked speculation that Wallen has bad blood with SNL. That rumor only gained steam following reports from Variety’s report and Page Six that he’d turned down an appearance in a pre-taped sketch, which ultimately went to Joe Jonas. Wallen’s camp has denied any ill will, while SNL’s Kenan Thompson offered a mostly judicious response when asked about the moment.

“The ‘God’s country’ of it all is strange because it’s like, what are you trying to say? You trying to say that we are not in God’s country? We’re not all in God’s country? We’re not all under God’s umbrella? That’s not necessarily my favorite,” Thompson told Entertainment Weekly. “But whatever. Moving on.”

Wallen doesn’t have a show scheduled until next month, when he’s set to headline his Sand in My Boots Festival in Gulf Shores, AL on May 18th.
