Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are back in Britain—and Saturday Night Live UK was ready for them.
The show opened its second series Saturday night by taking aim at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s newly announced return to the UK, imagining the couple turning up at Balmoral in search of a little help from King Charles (Larry Dean) and Queen Camilla (Emma Sidi).
In the sketch, Harry and Meghan (played by Jack Shep and Ayoade Bamgboye) explain that while they aren’t looking to resume their royal duties, they’ve grown accustomed to a certain standard of living.
“Just because I don’t want to be a royal doesn’t mean I want to be a regular guy,” Harry protests.
As it turned out, the sketch had another reveal up its sleeve.
“Did somebody say regular guy?” asked Britain’s new prime minister, Andy Burnham, as he made his entrance—played by George Fouracres.

The casting answered one of the biggest questions hanging over SNL UK’s return. Fouracres made a splash portraying Burnham’s predecessor, Keir Starmer in Series 1, while “Weekend Update” co-anchor Paddy Young had previously played Burnham himself.
But SNL UK opted to keep its prime ministers in the same hands.
“I’m the new PM, and I’m nothing like the last one,” Fouracres’ Burnham announced—a winking line given that Fouracres played the last one, too.
Jeff Goldblum hosted tonight’s Series 2 premiere, kicking off an expanded 12-episode season for SNL UK. Episodes of the show drop Stateside on Peacock Sundays.
