Late Night Ratings: Thursday, October 10, 2024

Note: LateNighter’s late night daily ratings reports are drawn from Nielsen live-plus-same-day data and do not take include delayed and/or streaming views. They are generally posted on a two (business) day delay, which is how they are released by Nielsen.

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! dominated its late-night counterparts on Thursday, October 10, averaging the most total viewers and P18-49 in the 11:35 p.m. timeslot.

Featuring guests Billy Crystal, Jessica Williams and Suki Waterhouse, Kimmel averaged 2,027,000 total viewers with 243,000 P18-49 on Thursday, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s +12% in total viewers and down -1% in P18-49 from the night before, up +35% and +34%, respectively, from the previous Thursday’s episode.

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon captured second place in the key P18-49 demographic on Thursday, but finished third in total viewers. The episode averaged 1,167,000 total viewers with 162,000 P18-49. That’s down -20% in total viewers and -37% among P18-49 from the night before, -1% and -15%, respectively, from the previous Thursday’s episode. Thursday’s Tonight Show featured guests Jordan Peele, and Madelyn Cline, and a performance by Kane Brown,

While Kimmel and Fallon aired new episodes, CBS re-aired The Late Show with Stephen Colbert‘s Sept. 17, 2024 episode (featuring guests Jeremy Strong and Dr. Francis Collins) this past Thursday. The telecast averaged 1,251,000 total viewers with 154,000 P18-49. That’s down -5% in total viewers and -1% among P18-49 from Wednesday’s telecast (a repeat airing). The program also shed -37% in total viewers and -31% among P18-49 from the previous Thursday’s Late Show (a new episode).

Hitting fast-forward, the Thursday, Oct. 10 episode of NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers averaged 880,000 total viewers with 133,000 P18-49. Featuring guests Jake Tapper and his daughter Alice Paul Tapper, Thursday’s episode shed -10% in total viewers and -29% in P18-49 from the night before. Week over week, Meyers gained +1% in total viewers, but shed -1% in P18-49 from the previous Thursday.

Following Kimmel, the Thursday, Oct. 10 edition of ABC’s Nightline averaged 981,000 total viewers with 124,000 P18-49 at 12:35 a.m. That’s down -5% in total viewers but up +18% among P18-49 from the night before, up +23% and +4%, respectively, from the previous Thursday’s episode.

After Midnight did not air a new episode on Thursday, Oct. 10. Instead, CBS re-aired the show’s Sept. 11, 2024 episode (featuring guest panelists Aparna Nancherla, Jon Lovett, and Zac Oyama), and the 12:35 a.m. telecast averaged 596,000 total viewers with 111,000 P18-49. That’s up +14% in total viewers, and +17% in P18-49 from the night before (also a repeat), down -3% and up +17%, respectively, from the previous Thursday’s After Midnight (a new episode).

Guest-hosted by Jordan Klepper, Thursday’s episode of The Daily Show averaged only 434,000 total viewers with 98,000 P18-49, per Nielsen live-plus-same-day data. That’s down -8% in total viewers but up +31% among P18-49 from the night before (also hosted by Klepper). The Oct. 10 episode also shed -8% in total viewers but gained +14% in P18-49 viewers from the previous Thursday’s episode (which was hosted by Michael Kosta). Eric Idle was Klepper’s Daily Show guest on Thursday, Oct. 10.
