Lady Gaga Belts Out a Bed Bug Ballad in New SNL Promo

Lady Gaga is preparing for double duty with some musical improv, at least according to the just-released promo for this weekend’s Saturday Night Live.

Like last week’s with Shane Gillis, the new promo brings viewers into SNL‘s 17th floor 30 Rock offices for a peek at how the start of the show’s production week is going. This time around, host and musical guest Lady Gaga is tickling the ivories, earnestly riffing on the office goings-on from behind her piano.

Andrew Dismukes is ordering a breakfast sandwich at 2 PM,” she sings.

“She says this is her process,” Ashley Padilla explains.

Gaga continues: Devon Walker is “taking a big swing” by donning a camouflage cowboy hat, and a freshly rested Heidi Gardner can’t hide the fact that she has been sleeping in her office.

As the rest of the cast members confirm they’ve long known Gardner’s secret, Gaga’s song asks the big question—Why—via an unsurprisingly impressive falsetto from the musician.

“And the answer is bed bugs!” Gardner sings. Gaga’s song crescendos with a repeated declaration of said bed bugs, while a now-proud Gardner retreats back to her dressing room.

Lady Gaga’s SNL return Saturday will come just one day after the release of her new album, Mayhem, which she subtly represents with a Mayhem baseball cap in the promo. She previously pulled double duty in 2013. While that was her only other time as host, this show will make Gaga the latest musical guest five-timer.
