Kaitlan Collins will join Jon Stewart on The Daily Show tonight, three days after President Trump singled out the CNN anchor during his hourlong speech at Friday’s rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Collins, CNN’s chief White House correspondent and anchor of The Source with Kaitlan Collins, was honored earlier in the evening with the White House Correspondents’ Association’s Award for Excellence in Presidential News Coverage Under Deadline Pressure. The award recognized her coverage of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s contentious Oval Office visit last year.
Trump later questioned the legitimacy of Collins’ award, repeatedly called it “fake,” commented on her appearance and returned to one of his familiar complaints about the reporter—that she does not smile enough. He then compared Collins to trans actress and influencer Dylan Mulvaney in a joke referencing Mulvaney’s 2023 promotional campaign with Bud Light.
Collins responded on Instagram Saturday, writing that the best part of the evening was “reminding everyone why the First Amendment—and asking uncomfortable questions that people in power don’t like—matters.” She also shared the Eleanor Roosevelt quote, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”
Stewart praised Collins during a recent Daily Show interview with Regime Change authors Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, interjecting that she “kills it” as the journalists discussed her willingness to challenge Trump amid an increasingly compliant White House press pool.
Following Stewart’s interview with Collins tonight, Daily Show senior correspondent Jordan Klepper will take over as host Tuesday through Thursday.
Comedian and actor Jeff Hiller will be Klepper’s guest on Tuesday. Hiller is promoting two Apple TV series, Pluribus and Widow’s Bay.
On Wednesday, Klepper will welcome Twin Temple for an interview and performance. The band recently announced its upcoming album, Doomed Lovers, which is set for release in October.
Investigative journalist Theo Baker will close out the week on Thursday. Baker is promoting his instant New York Times bestseller, How to Rule the World: An Education in Power at Stanford University.
With this week’s run, Klepper joins Desi Lydic with six hosting weeks in 2026, putting the two senior correspondents at the front of the show’s rotating correspondent-host pack for the year so far. Michael Kosta is close behind with five weeks, while Ronny Chieng and Josh Johnson have each hosted four.
The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central and is available to stream the following morning on Paramount+.
